I’m Deany Laliotis and I am passionate about the power of EMDR therapy to transform lives.
Since 1992, I had the privilege of working very closely with the originator of EMDR and founder of the EMDR Institute, Francine Shapiro. I was the Director of Training for EMDR Institute, the training program developed by Dr. Shapiro herself that trains clinicians all over the world. My husband, Dan Merlis was also on the teaching faculty of the EMDR Institute. Together we run a regional training program in Washington DC where we also maintain a joint private clinical and consultation practice, working with clients and consulting with EMDR therapists we’ve trained over the years.
For the last 20 years, I’ve traveled all over the US and abroad, teaching therapists how to use this EMDR as a comprehensive relational psychotherapy focusing on the treatment of complex trauma, healing wounds of attachment and the personal growth and clinical development of the therapists I train.
Realizing the Full Healing Potential of EMDR
For some, EMDR is an intervention—a one size fits all protocol. But this could not be further from the truth. EMDR is a comprehensive psychotherapy approach that is compatible with all theoretical orientations. Easily integrated with other therapeutic modalities—from couples’ therapy to neurofeedback—it is shown to accelerate healing and enhance change that lasts.
